Just Goy me 1990 4.2D Troll LWB Auto,
And thought it needs a service.. So off i went to my friendly local motor factors.!
" I'll have A fuel filter, AN oil filter, AN air filter and A tub of oil!! please "
" Check to see if these look the same cos we don't list a 1990...."
So I went out to the troll and lifted the bonnet all by my self(how strong am I) Yip the fuel filter looks the same!
The oil filter looks the same... But there are Two of them???
The air filter looks the same ... well one does any way!!and theres a second one of them aswell!!
So to steve's suprise I asked for ANOTHER oil filter and a second air filter. Quized him about the Oil capacity an proceed'd to buy a second 5l tub of that aswell... OIL capacity 6.4L!
No wonder these things run for ever!!!!!!
Plus a set of front pads.
Total bill less than £65 Inc VAT.
That's the first half of tomorrow taken care of!
Then we need a front section of exhaust that no body lists.... nothng before 1992-3 for a 4.2D!
1992-3 onwards looks similar and cheapest on Ebay is £87.44 for a 2 into 1 with a flexi.
So off round the local exhaust centres and an afternoon with the MIG.
It will probably not be worth my time but it's the principle amd I will feel good with my self for doing it!!:clap

i once had to make my exhaust fit for a 90 as i bought the wrong one from evilbay and didnt have time to wait for another.. didnt take long and nobody else new:thumbs

More Oil !!!!1

Just done service n front brakes in record time.!!
Man in the motor Factors told me the Oil Capacity was 6.4L at which I was surprised.
Not as surprised as I was when I drained the MAMOTH!! It almost filled a BnQ orange bucket ( which easily slid under the sump with plenty of clearance, Not got the jack oout yet!):nenau.
Not taking much notice of the quantity of oil in the bucket till I had emptied Half of the second 5L tub of oil into the engine, and not even got the dipstick wet:confused: ( 7.5L sofar ) It took over 8.5L to reach the lower level of the dip stick. So I topped it up to mid point and now have 0.9L of Oil left towards the next service:eek:.
I cannot find a cylinder filter for the first housing, Any Ideas out there!!!!
That said all parts came to £61.25 which for effectively 2 services I didn't think was Bad!!!

if you dont know its history, i would change autobox oil and filter to,often forgotten in a service, and an expensive mistake !

Presumably you've tried Milners

..... sourced stuff for my 2.7 Y61 .

Cheers
