Hi folks newbie to the site my nissan terrano 2 transmission light keeps coming on and i loose all power. i have to turn engine off and back on to reset it but its getting worse and worse please help.:bow

Thanks for quick response m8 im not very up to speed with cars do i have to get this done by mechanic or is it something i can do ?

Welcome to the site. Which light do you mean by the transmission light? What does it look like? Only time I ever had a slightly similar problem was when I got some kind of odd diesel during the very cold weather. Used to lose power and would correct itself when I turned off the engine and started up again. But it never cut out on me. Have you checked or changed the fuel filter (and banjo filter if you have one). The article on checking and clearing disgnostic codes should be easy enough to find in the downloads section of this site.

i wonder if he means the mil light .. it sorta looks like a gearbox i suppose ?:nenau
 
mil light could be coming on and the car could be going into limp mode
 
I'm not aware of a Terrano that has a limp mode.

The EML comes on and the rest is down to the driver.

The fact he's got crap running is more likely to be related to the issue thats caused the EML to illuminate in the first place.
