engine bay or inside?

As with most electronic modules it's on the inside to give it a fighting chance against the elements.
The bolts securing it though would appear to come from the other side, maybe under the outside plastic grill below the windscreen?
If you rest your right ear on the brake pedal and then look up towards the centre you can just see it,.. job for a gynaecologist to get out I would think!

Hi all

Car spent a week in the garage -still not repaired as the garage cannot find the Transmission control module (TCM) for the automatic gear box.

I am at my wits end, cos at the moment the car engages 4 th gear and then drops out of torque converter lock and that results in loss of top gear.

Is this a recent fault that has developed or have you recently purchased the vehicle with the gearbox as it is?

Problems like this can be linked to Gearbox oil grade and the oil level in the box. Too much oil causes all sorts of problems in an automatic gearbox.

Just a thought. Sorry mine is a R3mR auto and I have no idea where my TCM is or if it even has one.

it is a recent fault. the gearbox oil has been checked it is clean and at the correct level

found the bugger asshown in the picture in a previous post by ray, big thanks to Rayf3262.

The TCM on a mistral is in the rear drivers side quarter panel. It is accessed by removing the interior trim between the seats 3, 4, 5 and 6, 7

Once sorted i will post the cause of all my woes.

(problem was - gearbox dropping out of torque converter lock)
