Hi guys I have a small camping type trailer, was given it several years ago and has been fine for local trips but I do know the tyres have not been in the best of shape. Decided to replace the tyres but having looked at prices I’m wondering if it’s as cheap if not cheaper to buy a set of replacement wheels and tyres. Currently the trailer sits on a pair of old Austin Metro wheels with an odd size tyre, can’t remember it off hand.
I’ve never understood wheel fitting sizes so it’s a mystery. I’m pretty sure the hubs on the trailer are not from a Metro and I do know that the old Mini wheels also fit.

Can anyone give me some guidance please.

Cheers

Most of the smaller indispension units were designed to take "mini" type wheels.

Basically you need to note the following:

Centre hole diameter. Some fit over a ridge.
If the centre hole has a cut out to pass over grease nipple.
How many studs
Wheel stud Pitch diameter.

Then just make sure the trailer sides/arch are not to close to the inside wall of the tyre. I had a home built one years ago that would take the skinny "wheel barrow" like tyres, but not Mini wheels as they were too wide and hit the trailer chassis.
