ok i've been searching on google about tracking/tracing where a fuel leak is coming from, some suggest a liquid you put in the fuel that glows under a light to trace it back, however my truck wont even start right now so i did a little more searching and found some articles that said to use talcum powder on the effected area and follow it back to the leak, has anyone on here tried this and does it work?

I would have though talc is more use for colourless liquids you cant easily see and preferably in a clean environment, would have though its worth a shot.

Dye could be a good idea, no idea where youd get it from or how much :nenau Ive made use of it being in air con gas/liquid tracing a leak and it makes it easier though its not a silver bullet :thumb2

Best if you clean up then run whatever system so you can see it start to leak rather than just chuck it in , leave it then have a brightly coloured mess instead of diesel mess.

most common place for the fuel lines to go on these motors is around the rear wheel arch area where the fuel lines go up over the chassis.have done two now in the same area.on the petrol i replaced the line from the tank to the filter and on the deisel i replaced from the tank to about half way down the chassis.clutch damper pipe also went up near the rear wheel arch,it must just collect crap and moisture in that area.
ive got a load of copper tube to replace mine with, just waiting for a decent day when i'm not at work to get it done.

Thats exactly where it had gone, had it fixed now, the return line needed doing aswell, now just need to get rid of the misfire its developed :doh
