i was told by a trailer company and they showed me in a book too

lwb 2 and 3/4 ton

swb 2 and 1/2 ton

Ignore books - have a look at the plate under the bonnet that is what VOSA or the Police will do if they stop you.

The plate give you the GVW (Gross vehicle weight - max weight of truck fully loaded) and the MAM (Maximum allowed mass - max allowed weight including trailer). Minus one from the other to get maximum traile weight.

IIRC mine is 2800kg

here you go Nathan.

just scaned my Mrs Zippy, just for you...

what service...

My boat and trailer weigh approx 2 tonne, (4 wheel trailer) no problems towing at the legal limit on the motorway, you just need to organise a fuel tanker to run along side
Yes, towing limit 2.8 tonne. 100kg on the tow bar and she is rock steady without a stabiliser.
NOTE the outfit takes some stopping though so allow extra distance to stop. You still get idiots who pull into your safe stopping distance when approaching roundabouts, especially down hill like on the A 14.
At least they provide an extra crumple zone ! 8O 8O
Now I know what you truck drivers go through every day !

Does anyone know the towing capacities of automatic as compare to manual t2's?

i have noticed a huge differenece between the capacitys of a T2 and a Mistral, and wondered if it was down to the auto box?

I beleive it maybe down to legisation on towin g in japan and in reality they will tow the same as a t2/mav but I have never had the opportunity to see the capacities for an auto T2

rings a bell plank, in jp limit 750kg.

though think some patrols in uk spec are much lower on auto ie 2800 v 3500 for manual.

looking at scan above looks like auto t2=1700kg, guess slush boxes not as tough.

does a UK t2 auto have the same geat box as a Mistral? If so the difference must be down to legislation in the cuntry of origin?

asked Nissan the question when first had my T2, and they came back with 2800kgs. not many vans on the market i wouldnt have thought or boats that T2s wont cope with.:thumbs

I think it is because alot of auto boxes can overheat when under load so the manufacturers set their limit lower. I have never done this but you can fit auxiliary cooling units to reduce the heat and maybe increase your towing limit (but do this on your own head).
