What do people think the ideal tow rope length should be and how strong in tons too?

I have a lot of lifting gear at work so can choose whatever I want, it will be a lifting strap ranging from 1ton to 10tons but the length is an inportant factor too. I will stick one in my truck today ready for all the blizzards and eight feet of snow we are hopefully getting this weekend :)

well you need the 10 ton one for starters...better safe than sorry.:D

5 meters seems to be the norm, though 4 meters is also pretty common. Mine is 5 meters :thumb2

I can see why you're such a ladies man now. How long is your tow rope?

:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

well since i had the PA piercing to take a shakle it is my tow rope :naughty

Now then big boys, be careful 'cause you're only allowed 4.5m of tow rope MAX.
It also needs some sort of flag or other in the middle of it to warn other eeegiots not to try and slot in your gap, ooo err missus

Any tow rope longer than 1.5m needs a flag or light on it.

I think Steve might be talking about recovery ropes here though. I have a 3.5m tow strap with hooks on each end, a 5m length of rope with loops spliced on each end (which I used to pull a 3 ton dumper out of the mud last week) and 3 2 tonne shackles which I haven't used yet. I might have a 4 leg lifting chain soon with a total swl of 20 tonnes !!
