hi all ive just gone over a speed bump and my torsion bar snapped in half under the drivers side i have a 2000 reg 2.7 tdi swb wean can i get a new one from any idea on price and is it hard to replace need info a.s.a.p please :nenau

I think before you replace it you should be contacting your local authority to get compensation!

Easy fix also you can reset your bars also :thumb2start Now wire brushing your ajusting bolts by the rear of the gearbox and wd them,also were the bar goes into the ajuster and also the front. Laurie Ash:thumbs

no need for wd and wire brush as i ajusted them not long ago mate :thumbs
 
I 've said this before, but only replace with a second hand bar IF it from the same side, ie driver's side.

Using the wrong side bar will call premature failure, as the second hand bar would have been permanently set in the same direction.

Using the wrong side and the torsion will be trying to unwind the set in the bar.

how do i remove the torsion bar

hi all with a bit of luck i will have the new torsion bar off cncfabs tommorow id just like some info on how to remove the snaped one so i can try and do this myself ready to fit the new one ive ajusted the torsion bar's before just never taken one off thank's in advance

the two broken bits just pull out, but to put the new one in you need to dismantle the rear adjusting section completely and when you put the adjusting arm on if I remember correctly (with the front jacked up ) the arm should be flush with the bottom of the X member, (I could be wrong, if so I am sure someone will be along with the correct position, makeitfit or fez come to mind) then adjust it up till the ride height is same both sides, Rick
 
nope rick you are spot on, the adjusting arm should be flush and as rick says the old ones will just pull out,

Thats why i said wd40 to help them come out mine was a right bitch at the front to get out.Laurie.
