And the torsion bars are a twisted metal bar under tension at all times, once it begins to age it begins to de-twist itself, thus lowering the truck and needing future adjustment.

A common misconception is that the torsion bars can be turned around to start over again, BIG MISTAKE  I have heard of the torsion snapping when with is happens, also why you never buy one torsion bar online as you don't know what side it will be, unless you dismantle it yourself :thumb2

Nah, the torsion bars are under a constant torque, which is increased when driving over bumps.
Over time the torsion bars get a permanent set, ie. a sort of barley sugar twist.
A similar set occurs on coil springs over time.Hence reduction in ride height.

What you must never do is swap sides, or buy a second hand torsion bar from the other side, as you will try to undo this "set" and the reverse torque can cause metal fatigue, and can shear the bar. This has been reported on this forum once before.

Using the adjusters to reset the ride height is normal on this forum, however some have re-indexed them, ie moved the adjusting arm to another spline to gain much more height.
Simples :lol

What I said minus he reindex bit :kissy

Torsion bars on two of my trucks Re-indexed no problems to report..

Yeah don't worry about others measurements, it depends on your tyres ect ect, just bear In mind it needs to be lower than the rear.

Mine was on 102cm at the front, now on 98cm front :thumb2

Just measure your rear then make sure front is lower, sure someone said 15 or 25mm lower than rear :nenau

Just a point, if you measure from the bottom of the rim to the top of the wheel arch then for a particular size of rim (ie. 16"/15" etc) you will get a measurement that isn't affected by the type of tyre fitted. That's how Pedders quote their lift heights.

I would have thought that from the centre of the hub/wheel to the wheel arch is more logical, then it doesn't matter about the rim size either.:nenau

Not if you have big negative offset rims

That's how I take my measurements normally but when I had to lift the front up on this one I did it as the manual states:thumb2
