Torsion bar adjustment

Any body know if there is a workshop download for adjusting the front torsion bars or give me a point in the right direction on how to do it please. I want to lower the front back down as some numpty has wound it op way too far.

if you follow the torsion bars back from the front wishbones there are 2 adjusters on the x member behind the gearbox.
19mm socket on the bolt and 19mm ring spanner on the lock nuts.
clockwise to lift anti clockwise to lower.
cant remember the height off hand but i always set mine so the ride height is about 15mm lower on the front.
get it on level ground and measure from the floor to the bottom of wheel arch to get a rough idea.

I posted this before since I made some notes during the adjustment.

Tools you will need.
19mm open ended spanner,
a ring spanner 19mm ( I used a 3/4 AF spanner... perfect),
a 19mm socket and long bar.
Procedure.
use open ended spanner on lower nut and slacken top nut.
Tighten the bolt. I found it easier to tighten the bolt at the bottom rather than the nut.
Tighten the lock nut after the procedure.
You can do this while the vehicle is on the ground.
If you count the flats turned while tightening I found the following..
24 flats ( 4 complete turns of the bolt) raises the vehicle approx 19-20mm
at the front.

instant. its easier to do if you take the weight off the car with a jack. about 20 mins to do the job

You will need to get your tracking checked afterwards as it'll prob be out after adjusting the bars:thumb2

Instant but you need to run it back and forth a few yards to allow it to settle before measuring to see if at right height.

Its a 'wet finger' way of doing it but not the correct way. When its properly set up the front should be a tad lower than the back but only a tad...

If you check out the workshop manual link (Zippy will be here in a minute I'm sure!) it shows it expressed as a vertical measurement between the inner and outer ends of the front suspension wishbone...

Thats way out so yes, get adjusting. I paid a little man to do it but everyone says its a piece of cake - certainly when I watched a guy in the garage do its years ago on my first S-plate Maverick it took him all of three minutes! And it makes a noticeable difference on all fronts...

ive never even thought of measureing mine, think im a bit down at the front, but not that much im sure..

I'm sorry to hear that Zip? My condolences... LMAO!

I think the difference measured at the wheel arches (on dead flat remember) is only about 10-15mm on a properly adjusted truck...
