Is anyone local to me able to adjust my torsion bar in exchange for some beer tokens? I dont have the tools or the technical knowledge to do it myself! :nenau

lots. of wd40 spraying every day before

then 30mins tops Just two spanners needed

which bits do i need to spray? (im hopeless) is the torsion bar the bar that goes back to about half way along truck?

ok, i just got under the truck, and sprayed all the bits that look like they may be torsion bar related! :nenau i now smell of WD40!!

if your just raising the height there are two bolts with two nuts on each on the centre cross member if your indexing the bars as well you'll see the index splines on that cross member as well.... I think I need mine re indexing but like you I'm not a experenced mechanic and would like somebody to just watch over to make sure I dont bugger owt up....:nenau

If you're re indexing make sure you mark where the torsion bar goes into the arm before you start

Best get thee sander and hamerite on that bud.

Most do not need re indexing, just wind up the long vertical bolt on the rear end of the torsion bar, on top are two nuts bottom one is thicker than the top one, unlock the top one half a turn then put a spanner on the bottom one and hold it whilst turning the bolt from the bottom with a socket and ratchet (clockwise) easier if the front is jacked up off the ground, wind it up say 15 mm at a time, leave the thin lock nut where it is and you have a gauge as to how much you have raised each side, you should be able to get 2 inch or near before the bolt bottoms out, when done do check after a short drive that the drive shafts are not too far off of straight or you will do CVJ's quick, Rick

Yo rick, are the nuts 17 or 19, cant remember, and will need to bring spanners.home from work.

Are these bolts/nuts usually rusted up, hence the need to soak in WD40/Plusgas?

mine were 19mm.... sprayed them with wd40 and left it a couple of days, used a open on the lower and ring on the higher they came apart without and problems, used socket on adjustment bolt and measured the lenght of bolt coming out, mine are set at 95mm to the top of the bolt above the cross member and the wheel arches are 82cm high at the front..... with the rear at 84cm....
