I understand that the Terrano manual gearbox takes 3.6l of oil. I've just drained mine and filled a 5l container! I've refilled and have accidentally filled 4l. I stuck my finger in the inlet and the level is about an inch below. Bearing in mind I have the front up on ramps so may be the oil runs back towards the transfer box and gives a false impression that it is low.
Can putting in too much oil in the gearbox cause a problem?
I'm pretty certain that it is the gearbox I've drained: back from the sump is the bell housing and then about 12" from further back is a drain plug on bottom and above and forward on same side is the filler plug. Further back is the transfer box I believe which takes the rear and forward prop-shafts.
Thanks
