Did anyone see tonight with Quentin tonight? he was talking about the motor market and the deals to be had. As two examples he got two owners, one bloke with a Shogun and loaned him a Pug for the week and another guy that had a Rover 400 shed that he was running into the ground and he got a Fiat 500 for the week. Quentin showed them how much cheaper it would be to change cars even though the Shogun owner was already 7 grand down on his motor.
So is anyone gonna rush out and change their truck for a cheaper one??????

Nope not me:thumbs

I have a vw diesel polo for economy and the terrano to do the work
so no I will not change a thing:thumbs:lol:lol saw the programe some people need to change to a nissan his mtsi only did 18 to gallon!!!!

I saw it, but the Shogun on there wasn't particularly old, and was a big petrol engined example. He had huge depreciation to take into account. I'd rather take a gamble on the fact that My Mav has probably dropped about as low as it ever will, so I've only got servicing and normal running costs at 25-28mpg to consider. And it's all mine - I don't have a fortune to spare every month for finance repayments...

Total madness
Some people need to live in the real world and I think a few will be joining soon:lol:lol:lol:rolleyes:

I'm not selling up yet:thumbs but if I was going back to cars (thats a very big IF & unlikely to happen) my short list would be Nissan Skyline, Scooby, EVO, Toyota Supra 3L twin turbo TRD:augieWould I be quids in ? NO all drink petrol like mad:augie would be replacing tyres once to twice a year & will be back to collecting points again:doh

im just going to run my T2 till i cant either afford to or it falls apart..
then get some thing else just as much fun

I did get rid of my old Mav in the interests of fuel economy and bought a diesel Seat Ibiza...65mpg! Hated the car and went out and bought my Terrano 2.4. Small cars are not for me

We've got a "sensible family" Vectra, 51 plate 1.8 LS that is for her daily use, and I keep fully serviced every 6 months so it's 100% reliable as an M5 mile muncher. The Mav is mine, (I keep telling myself that), and is my greenlane toy, load carrier, kiddie lugger, hobby, and escape on a Sunday afternoon. I'm still trying to get her to chop in the Vectra for a 2.7 Tdi T2 as the family wagon. Both vehicles are bought and paid for and that's the way I like it.

Lee. :thumbs

Well my Mistral is a Jap import, 1995 with only 101,500 klm on the clock. At 14yrs. old she runs as sweet as a nut, and I paid cash for her. When she starts failing the MOT big time, I'll just go out and buy another for cash.

absolutely, my T2 all paid for, mite be 12 yrs old, but no monthly payments to worry about. went down the sensible family car route(2003 Renault Megane) loads to the gallon, but wouldnt tow horsebox out of muddy fields, was gettin wrecked by trying to do a jobit was never intended to do, and finally managed to get through to the Wife that we needed a 4x4 to do the job.(my daughter shows her ponies up and down the country). bought the T2and after a shaky start (clutch problems), can honestly say would never and i mean never go back to a car again. love My T2, and the missus on side to now.

What planet was the dude on saying his tyres will cost him a grand:nenau Jim T

Planet Kwikfit probably. I was quoted just shy of £200 for the *cheapest* 245/70 R16 they had on their stocklist, when I blew a tyre on the rear of the Trooper I had at the time, on the A9 about 10m south of Inverness - and that was in 2001!! If he was daft enough to buy tyres through a Mitsi franchise dealer, he may well pay even more.

Cheers
Andrew
