Yep if you check my latest thread you will see the hose you supposedly "ballbear"

if you wanna quick fix before properly blanking ect remove the hose and squirt a load of lubricant in there, this is what I did and its awesome again :D

Halfords also sell a proper "egr cleaner" prob double the price of whatever it actually is :lol

I took a pic of the hose to remove, its a 2 min job :thumb2

Oh sorry, the last thing I heard aswell, in order to blank off the EGR it must be working apparently. Someone will clarify :nenau

Yes, the problem is, they tend to jam open, hence the issues, so unless you know it is closed already, the ball bearing will make no difference.

So best way to lubricate? Wd40 down the breather nipple?

What if I made a plate to fit inlet manifold side surely that'll work even if stuck open

Don't know if this applies to the Terranos but I know when I had my Shogun that the usual ways to block the EGRs on the Shoguns/Pajeros was either the ball bearing trick or the other way was to undo the bolts on one side of the EGR (possibly inlet, don't think it makes a difference what side) then slide out the gasket. You then traced round the gasket onto some flat steel (some even used a cut open drinks can) and made your own blanking plate. Blanking plate was then slid back in in place of the gasket and the bolts done up.

Never had to do it myself as someone had blocked mine using the ball bearing trick before I got the truck.

The only 100% reliable way is to use a blanking plate, ball bearing is on OK if it is not stuck open in the first place Aka Lazy Ferret, Rick

Is it possible to buy the plates ready made to cap it off ??

not unless someone on here wants to make them and I cannot see that being viable, postage will be more than the cost of plate, just cut one out of a drinks can, it does not need to have holes for the bolts just cut it to fit between the bolts, job done, Rick

Shall I use some sealant and do I need to do the 1 or 2 sides of the egr valve ?? Cheers

no just loosen the bolts and slide the thin plate between the two bolts, does not matter which side of the gasket, Rick

You don't need sealant and one side is enough :thumbs

(Gah! Should've refreshed, like Rick said!)

Any chance someone can scan a copy of the traced gasket and post on here so I can make my plate before I start?
Cheers
Glen

where abouts does blanking plate go? i found the hose for the Ball Bearing, but not sure where the blanking plate should go? pics?:nenau

This is what I used, just spray the hell out of it :lol

Not permanent like a blanking plate but my truck is now like a rocket again, thanks all :kissy
