Well this is something you dont hear very often about nissan garages and i thought id share with every one on here.
I obtained a quote from a dealer in kings lynn for the replacement of:
Timming Belt
Timming belt tensioners
air con belt
ancillary belts.
All parts and labour including vat was £320, which i felt was very reasonable. I instructed them to carry out the said works and they also changed the crankshaft sensor which i supplied. :thumbs.
The only down side was they spent two days trying to start the trol and where unable to bring the old girl into life:nenau. I put this down to technique as she fired up when i got there:D.
So after all the bad press stealers get i thought id post up this thread about the reasonable price Wests Nissan, of Kings Lynn charged me.

cheap

So how is the new job going Diddley at Wests Nissan of Kings Lynn ?:nenau

Ha Ha, i dont work at Wests, just a happy customer. :thumbs

Unfortunatly the trol failed her mot today with an embarrasing amount of work needed.

If you live near me I can show you a garage which is good and probably a lot cheaper. David.

Well here is the list from the refusal of an mot:
1) The vehicle emits substantial quantities of avoidable smoke.

2) offside front axle swivel joint has excessive play.

3) offside brake pipe corroded

4) both centre brake pipes corroded

5) offside (sill) seat belt anchorage prescribed area is corroded

6) nearside (sill) seat belt anchorage prescribed area is coroded

7) nearside rear inner wing seat belt anchorage area is corroded

8) offside rear inner wing seat belt anchorage area is corroded

9) exhaust has part of system excessively deteriorated

10) nearside rear brake recording little effect

11) service brake effeciancy below requirements

Now for the advisory list:

1) offside front vehicle structure has slight corrosion

2) both front hubs leak. (This will be warranty work as they where only done 5k miles ago.

Dont hold back guys, what do you think i should do with my troll. :nenau

Looking at that it depends on whether you can weld and/or how big the areas of rust are. And of course how able you are as a mechanic for the rest. Can you do the work yourself? I'm guessing by the timing belt job possibly not?

I would be taking it to a garage to have the work carried out. Mot garage said about £1500 quid to have all the work done. Boo

just a bit of time very little cost

1) The vehicle emits substantial quantities of avoidable smoke.
change the engine oil air/oil filter

2) offside front axle swivel joint has excessive play.
replace the upper and lower swivel bearings very easy job bearing less than a tenner each

3) offside brake pipe corroded
you can buy a brake pipe flareing kit for £30 quid and make your own new made to measure brake pipes as i did for the terrano

4) both centre brake pipes corroded
as above

5) offside (sill) seat belt anchorage prescribed area is corroded
time to invest in an angle grinder and welder buy some sheet metal and get welding

6) nearside (sill) seat belt anchorage prescribed area is corodedas above
as above
7) nearside rear inner wing seat belt anchorage area is corroded
as above
get welding
8) offside rear inner wing seat belt anchorage area is corroded
you will be an expert in no time lol

9) exhaust has part of system excessively deteriorated
cut out the offending rotten bit and bolt a new straight threw bit of pipe

10) nearside rear brake recording little effect
new rear caliper prob a tenner

11) service brake effeciancy below requirements
strip clean and adjust or replace shoes if needed

to be honest i dont think its that bad what trol do you have ? as the ex owner of the original 160 model with L28 engine i am still in possesion of a genuine nissan work shop manual which took 3 months to arrive from japan and cost me over £100 at the time

Hi davenclaire, i have a 98 plate y61 2.8 diesel. If i had the time and the patience i would attack it my self and get the work done. I believe i have been offered a fair price for parts so i think my trol days are now over.

Get it fixed up mate betcha it won't cost much
