Hi Cornish
Usual places for rust - outer front wings around the wheel arch where the plastic moulding attaches, also at the bottom of the front wings adjacent to the door gap where mud collects on the inside of the wheel arch and the rear seat belt attachment point on the inner rear wheel arch - all commn rust points on the T2. The gearboxes can be prone to early failure, I've replaced two! Listen for bearing whine in high gears and check for difficulty in engaging gears. If you get a good one they are great trucks, I can recommend the 3ltr with the Patrol engine, more economical and powerful than the 2.7 but they're both good work horses.
