As it was a bit milder here yesterday thought I would do some much needed tidying up in the garage as I could not find my 18 mm socket.

After clearing the first bench between my sink and the over spill large upright Fridge a worktop some 5 feet long I pondered on the wisdom of a full tidy up. Inevitably it would look better but convinced myself I would soon forget where I had put things so best to just live with it as it is - and has been for the last few years.

Have not yet found the 18 mm socket so a cracking start to the new year. I know when I roughly last used the 18 mm socket was when I replaced the rear discs on the BMW in July.
One of our Chihuahua's has a habit of stealing stuff so I might leave the blame there and just buy an 18 mm socket - much easier !

You'll have been visited by the same gremlin as Rick and Clive:lol

I need to tidy out my garage too to make room for the mg.

Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock,

How to find the missing 18 mm socket.

I have solved how to find the missing socket !!

If I go to Halfords in the morning and buy a single 18 mm socket, take it home and put it into the space where it belongs the missing socket will appear when I next go into the garage looking for almost anything but the 18 mm socket.......simples and will save me time !

I have already emptied out the boot of the BMW and failed to find it plus emptied a couple of general tool boxes to no avail wasting a good 40 minutes in the process.

Have you checked in the fridge :lol:lol:lol

I once worked in a Garage that had a resident German Shepherd, when working on cars (fairly rare as was commercial workshop) if you placed the hub cap on the floor as a handy place to store all the nuts and bolts etc, this dog would come allong and flick it with his paw sending bits everywhere, and larger bits like track rod ends and drop links he would pick up in his mouth go out to the yard and drop them someplace, often never to be seen again, Rick

" Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
And shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone the song is over, thought I'd something more to say "

There's always a 'Floyd song to capture the mood.

In response to Pete:

"A tidy garage/workshop is the sign of a sick mind"

I paraphrase a little but the meaning is the same.

:freak3:

Monaro Pete, that's my kind of garage!
A place for everything, and everything in its place. I have to say though I was raised by a librarian ;)
