HI DID A SEARCH ON TIDESWELL LANE AND FOUND THIS.
Just gives you an idea how unclear and difficult a job it is to confer vehicle rights of way some interesting reading and a good insight.
into the history of the villages and connecting routes.

ps do a search yourself of the roads we drive on green lane days see what you can find .

fell asleep what the heck is all that mumbo plagues, pestilance all about a dirt track talk about power corupts some little hitler gets 20k yr to write that tosh

here is another one i have just found.
RE. BLACK HARRY ROAD
In the Bull’s Head, Wardlow, there hangs the account of an early eighteenth century
highwayman, Black Harry, who robbed the pack-mule trains between Tideswell and Bakewell. He
was apprehended at Wardlow Cop “by Castleton Bow Street runners under command of Blue
John”. He was “hung, drawn and quartered on the Gallows Tree” at Wardlow Mires, and
“Derbyshire vultures from Ravensdale picked his bones clean”.

ps
jace its all about proving rights of way.
if some little town hall clerk hadn't kept records we probably would have lost right to drive it.

i see why someones gota keep on ball but very few actually bother to stop driving it because someone in a back office hasnt found a record from 1798 saying during our plague it was a road as you said two motorcrossers went straight past you mate, were allows cutting locks off gates to gain acess to routes we need thatve been locked just replace them with standard rail lock once through!

Nice one Ian.

I know when I have been out on recces with Dad we have seen more and more People monitoring a lot of the lane's we use. This often results in keeping them open.

As for the history behind it, as you know when we stop at Eyam the Museum is often open and has old historic maps, pamphlets and local information and contact details reference rights of way etc..

I have taken several other club members in when we have been out on a Saturday.

Good job the didn't ask Dad to find a chippy, have recently found out they don't have them in Hope, Eyam, and surrounding area's, as the locals don't want papers cluttering up the paths etc... There is only one, but Iv yet to see it.

Hope this link works.... (if not google EYAM MUSEUM DERYBSHIRE) its not often open, but this site is pretty good.

As you can see its only over the road to the carpark we normally stop at.

Last time I went in with Janet we got told off for using a camera.. tut tut

However they are normally very friendly and helpful.
