Hi my maverick 2.7td is still making a ticking noise even after the tappets have been adjusted. Its between 1000/2000 rpm at idle its fine any suggestions..

Often the fan belt, mine sometimes cha cha cha ...chatters.

Pour some water over the fan belts whilst the engine is running, if it goes away, it's only the belt(s)

Stand back of course, you only need a cup full, slowly poured over the belts.

Mine does the same thing cold on tickover, but when theirs a load on the engine or it's up to operating temp it's fine.

how did you do the tappets, if the motor has done over 100k then chances are the rockers are indented, so making feelers useless, the method is to tighten the screw till it just touches the valve then back off either a quarter turn or a half turn effed if I can remember, but trial and error will soon tell you, Rick
