HI Every One. I have a thud noise from the front area of a lwb Maverick, This Happens when pulling off at junctions etc it seems to be from the front n/s area. I have looked at the mechanical section with great interest and i must say that my gear box mounts props etc are all ok.
Could this be a bush that needs replacing ? Or something else

thud

i used to have the same noise on mine and it turned out to be the front anti roll bar drop links.there is workshop download to show you how to change them.the bushes on mine had pulled through the wishbone so i got a clunking sound from the front end.

Think i have this problem as well, was just thinking or taking them off!! 8O

I Changed my drop links about 18 mts ago i have a major inseption this week as i am going to drive to Paris in about 3 weeks time  . i am thing about changing the wish bone bushes for poly ones has any one changed these bushes and if you have what was the job like. :?

18 months is more than enough time for the ARB links and bushes to be shot once again.

I've got a set of poly bushes to go on mine but it hopefully should'nt take that long as i've replaced the drop links not that long ago  just a case of undoing the nuts in the bottom arm for the drop links then undoing the 4 nuts that hold the 2 brakets the hold the ARB in place at the front

Changed all my arb bushes and drop link with poly, removed arb and drop links in one ,replaced and refitted .Tightened up droplinks and all ok.

arb poly bushes

hi,
jack body up slightly undo front arb brackets drop bar down takes the pressure off to allow you to take the side ones off, replace the same way.

Many Thanks for your replies- It was the ARB Bushes i am now ordering from milner .Thanks Again

I think mine has a duff front ARB bush, so I was thinking about just removing the ARBs all together. I think this has been discussed before, but what are the MoT issues with doing this ?

Lee.

I fitted new ARB bushes yesterday, Where the drop link goes into the bottom wishbone the holes were worn so drilled them out and fitted a small pipe about 4M Thick then i welded it in and fitted the drop links with new poly bushes. I have to say it,s like having new steering WHAT A BIG DIFFERANCE .

Its a grey area - but if you remove every last vestage of the antiroll bars so its difficult to see that anything is missing you should be ok.

Would taking them off not make your insurance void? would have thought it would be a big no no with them.

Not if you declare it - mines declared as no anti roll bars, bigger tyres, winch and bumpers and lift fitted - like any modification you must declare them.

Antiroll bars are mainly a comfort thing not a handling thing except perhaps on macpherson strut vehicles where they need to constrain roll to keep camber changes within acceptable limits on beam axle and wishbone set ups this is not needed as camber in roll either doesn't change (beam axle) or can be controlled through the initial geometry.
