Hi Guys can anyone help please?
I noticed the other day the thermostat housing seems to be leaking slightly on my 1998 Terrano.
On inspection i think there is a hair line crack in the plastic housing, then when i went to put the plastic housing back on the long bolt at the back seemed to be cross threading and i was very scared it was going to either strip the threads or snap something.
So i am ideally after a complete thermostat housing or worse case scenario just the upper part of the housing.
Does anybody have one for sale if so how much delivered to Bradford, West Yorkshire?

Cheers
Stephen

It did originally have an alloy one but that was damaged years ago when I got the motor and the replacement was the current plastic one...well spotted though

I admit these are like rocking horse poo for the metal housing. It took me 2 months to finally get one off a vehicle being broken for spares off ebay. Id look at vehickes not just the housing and email them to see if its available. My metal one has been a treat since fitted.

I would have thought that there are many other vehicles use the same housing as the Terrano / Maverick. Maybe London Taxis :augie

I wonder if you trawl the application list for the thermostat for a Terrano, and work backwards, you might strike gold, however, the hose diameter has to be correct, and also the PCD of the fixings etc.

Just a thought... not easy but might be a possibility...:nenau

Nissan Serena, Cabstar and Urvans had the TD23 engines. Do you think those will be the same housing?

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.
I contacted Motor Hog Breakers in Doncaster and they had one complete for £20.00, so I travelled the 45 min trip and picked it up.

When I started the repair I encountered a few slight problems, all of which I am glad to say I sorted...

One of the original problems I had was that the rear bolt on the housing seemed to be struggling to go in and felt that it was cross threading, so I decided to remove the whole housing, expecting to have to re-thread the hole, turns out it was just full of compacted silicone and crap, cleaned out and the bolt went in like a dream.
Whilst undoing the main housing one of the bolts that hold the housing to the engine block snapped, fortunately it left enough of the bolt to be able to grab with a decent pair of grips and wind back out.

Apart from that it all went back a dream and is no longer leaking.

She lives to run another day.

Thanks for the help and advice
