I hate this key. Nothing worse than standing out in the rain with the kids unable to unlock the car because the stupid button wont work :banghead

Also comes with Thatcham CAT 1 alarm and imoboliser :clap

I heard my alarm go off once and it was so pitiful that it would be useless in an emergency.

So I really wanted a proper alarm installed, so I went to a professional car alarm installer to get a Thatcham CAT 1 put in as this would also give me a separate key fob to unlock and lock all the doors without having to use the Nissan key. I don't need the Nissan key at all now but to start the truck.

Because they are in the electrics sorting out the alarm, I also got him to do a separate little modification for me to hopefully improve security and also reliability. More on that when I get a picture...….

The car is a lot safer now too and I will be able, or should be able to get cheaper car insurance because of the professional install. Has to be a registered installer to get the insurance certificate.

I paid £495 + vat. It's quite a lot but I hope to get some back on insurance. It's a Cobra but I cant remember the model as on holiday at the moment so don't have the box in front of me.

I've got the same now on both Patrols :thumbs

Send your key away to get the fob part reconditioned dude, I had both of mine done when I had the Y61. Will fix your button issues at least.

There's a few places on Ebay that do it. Just make sure to request your fob back is returned though (if you like the silver Nissan logo)

Easy fix If you can find a spare switch?

Guys, beware of replacement switches on ebay as there are some really tiny which are too small.
There’s also refurbished fobs on ebay for about £15

If you want to replace the switches then this type of switch has been successful for me.

I have a spare switch if you want it, I changed one of mine cos it had come off

Unfortunately the original separate oval fob with the two half circle buttons is not compatible with the newer key fob and key combined, tried it been there and bought the tee shirt:doh
