Wow "Dinitrol" that's a product name from the past. When I was in new car sales (full time) between 1973-1979 virtually all our new vehicles were sold with aftermarket rust proofing applied locally when the new cars were sold.

Warranties varied as did prices - later manufacturers factory treatments improved so much that it became unnecessary for most Marques especially those with Galvanised Bodywork. That said sometimes even Mercedes had issues with their 25 year body warranties - famously the old W210 E class had a production line fault that cost them a lot of money when the body shell dipping process faulted when production speeds were changed on the assembly lines causing poor coverage inside the box sections etc due to insufficient immersion in the dip tanks - the drain holes were too large!

I have always done something to try to stop under body rot with virtually every vehicle I have owned including both our Jeeps.

Yeah we did want a SWB, but very difficult to find and silly money.
But I did view one, and in all honesty, the boot is just too small to take all our stuff when we travel in the summer up to Scotland to see the family.
The lwb probably suites us better for what we need it for. Never a right answer really.

It's been really well looked after, certainly stayed in a garage all its life.

The blue itself is a really nice colour, but its just the 2 tonne combination with the silver that I'm not a massive fan off :nenau

One thing that Yvonne gets on at me for (and rightly so) is that we have a spare tyre the same size so we can use it as an emergency.

I wanted to fit bigger tyres on the truck so decided to get a rear wheel carrier to hold the spare.

I took a punt on this rear bumper and its nice to have something different looking. It does have a couple of issues like not being able to open the barn doors without unlatching the 2 carriers and the fitment isn't the best. I might have to reshape bumper behind the rear wheels.

Got the new wheels and tyres.

Bloody hell, with the eu rules on road noise we are struggling for tyres here.

I wanted an AT tyre and after driving t-doug's terrano in Wales I was super impressed with the grip and not to mention the KO2 are snow rated so I wanted them. The other possibility was cooper discoverer st maxx and general grabbers but I preferred the look of the bfg.

Can I get these tyres in the size I wanted. No way, there is such little choice out there it's unbelievable.

I started to think about getting the new bfg km3 as they were getting released in the size I wanted at the beginning of December. Then I found out the price and they were mire expensive than my 40's.

Then I thought, do you know what, for looks, size, side wall size, and the fact it won't really be used off road, I got the tyre I wanted...

Good question. I was really worried about this but I thought if the worst comes to the worst, I still have my 4.6 ring and pinion gears that came out of the 2.8 Patrol.

But I have to say I've been very pleasantly surprised, the auto box copes brilliantly, possibly now has better gear ratios than standard for my driving and where it changes gears. The only downside is it has lost a bit of power which is only noticeable when at a higher speed and doing a hill climb for an example, but the nads kit I think will sort that right out.

Overall, much happier with it than I thought I would be. I absolutely swear once again, Nissan designed the Patrol to run on 35's as standard. Even makes the speedo read pretty much spot on :clap

I've thought about 35s on the shorty but it's a bit more involved on the Y60s as they want a 4" lift and/or cutting to fit them and I'd definitely want to fit 4.6 gearing or at least 4.3 (she's 4.1 just now) and tbh I'm pretty happy with her on her 33s anyway.

When it comes to new tyres, I will bin off the 33's and go with the 35's! My rims are 16" tho, not 15" ... I will stick with the BFG's! :thumbs
