Thanks to seeing a comment made on the forum I bought JonathanM's PSI box and K&N filter, all arrived as expect and it's now been installed. The T2 certainly seems quicker in the higher rev's, not sure on the low rev's, will have to see how it feels after a few drives. All in worthy purchase.

So thanks to JM for selling, and the forum as ever.

Cheers.

I'm interested, is it a filter?

or an induction kit ?

Is there a difference and if so what?

My heads a shed maybe I should have stuck with my petrol mondeo :?

The 1st one you have listed is a replacement filter which fits into the standard air box. I have not long fitted one of these & have found the throtle responce a lot better & the T2 is pulling better in the higher gears.
The 2nd one is an induction kit that bolts onto the MAF unit, these often give a slightly higher BHP gain but on a T2 it sits over the turbo so will need a heat shield to keep back the hot air fom the turbo & exhaust, plus it would be worth fitting a cold air feed pipe from the front grill to just infront of the filter to get the best out of it & you will prob notice a much louder induction roar which not everyone is keen on. But with an induction kit you do run a far higher chance of sucking water into your engine as the filter is exposed if you hit deep water (large puddle)or mud  This is why I went for the replacement filter in the air box

Test drive today was on a road I never drive, so I never got a feel for how different it drove. Tonight drove home the normal route and the difference is very noticeable.

Most noticeable is the increase in power: It pulls away much more firmly and accelerates at higher speeds much more confidently. I wouldn't say it's way faster, just much more sure footed. Over taking is now much easier, no more timing your speed and distance from the car in front to slingshot round them. At 50 the car accelerated to 70 with no struggle whatsoever. Also it no longer loses speed on slight inclines.

It's also much smoother: The initial flatspot is gone and when you put your foot down the power feeds in smoothly not in gulps if you know what I mean.

Finally it pulls way better at lower rev's in higher gears. 5th gear now pulls quite happily from below 40 with none of the usual judder and scary noises.

I've no idea which of this can be put down to the psi box or the air filter, but regardless, it's about the best performance investment I've ever made for the T2.

I'm almost tempted to let the wife drive the Navara for a while and go back to the T2.

Almost ;-)

hi baskie, what it dont to the old insurance? up much??

if you dont mind saying what did you pay form them both??

Didn't effect the insurance surprisingly.

Moneywise I paid enough so that both of us were happy.

baskie,who you insured with then??
when i asked Swindon what would happen it jumped up £50 a year...

Not sure who I'm with, it's all done as part of the business insurance package by the bloke who looks after all that sorta stuff for me. We have 3 company cars with them plus all the usual business insurance so I suspect that's why it don't cost us more: They're already ripping us off!

ah... thats makes sence.. youve no money left. that've had it all

Baskie, I'm glad you like the kit, I was really surprised how the car felt after I removed the PSI, I was using full throttle when driving solo for the first time in over a year; an unchipped t2 does feel totally different.

If anyone considers getting one, do it, but also think about the K&N replacement, without it the wagon can be really smoky with the PSI, the K&N seems to help an awful lot.

Baskie, one tip, use the power sparingly, otherwise you will provoke clutch slip if you drive it to the full all of the time.

Enjoy it!!
