well you lot of terry lovers, been of air for a bit as had new pacemaker fitted which meant i could not drive for a week.
but i was in the middle of getting around to rebuild the front of my green t2.
after taking split front bumper off i could see the rad cross member was well shot.
ib then took off both fkd f wings as well shot.
i had a good scrape about and found some rot to bulkhead/floor which i cant do as cant get under although t2 on ramps.
this is the bit you all have been waiting for,the fiberglass f/wings i have had for about 3 years.
ok this is where it all went wrong.
they dont fit.
i had to cut them to make them fit as the thickness of them and inner braces all wrong.
i cut offered up cut offered up then completely removed part of the front brace as it would not allow the wing to get close enough to bonnet edge and front light bezel.
although the hole markings were moulded they needed drilling and it was hard to drill in correct place when lining up mounts.
i pearsofeared and finally got 1 wing bolted on and lines up pretty good.
there is a lot of sanding to do as the edges that need to be a nice round ones are sharp trimmed.
happy with this wing i packed in for the day took about 7hrs to get it acceptable to me.
next day was fitting the other wing but i had the knowledge of the other wing and sure enough it was a bugger to fit.
this one needed cutting much more and i ended up making a fixing plate i riveted to front of the wing as it was so out.
the bottom sill fixings could not be used as wing was so out of shape i ended
up gluing it in place,i have not put any trims on as i have got it back home to get floor welded on ramp.
although it took a bit less time it was another long day.
i put a replacement bumper on that is same colour as mine got years ago.
once floor done i will prep and paint it then fit all trims and under arch mouldings.
it does look good and all the front member has been replaced so its a good un.
so if you have sense and can work out what to do get the wings but i know i wont again.
