Hey lads so the terrano has been great recently and its mot's due soon but today the speedo just stopped working a few times, a tap on the instrument cluster a fair few times and it would work again. So what drives the speedo? Where's the sensor and how do I check it all OK?

Hiya mate, what year is truck, mines a 2000 and it has electric speedo instead of a good old fashioned cable. Sounds like you may just have a loose plug on the back, if your lucky!!

Its a common problem. Mine sticks a lot, especially when I have the lights on so the dash lights are warming it up.
As far as I know its either something to do with the soldered joints on the back of cluster or the stepper motor that acually makes the needle move.

yep pul out the dash and resolder all the tiny little pins, Rick

there is a thread re jonella in france re this very thing pics and all, I visited him and as he did not have a soldering iron we bought one and did the whole lot,Rick

I tried soldering a new witch in my key fob but the pointy hat kept setting on fire:lol
I must say that when I finally finished it the fob worked like magic :lol
