Hello all

This is Ben, heating engineer in Cornwall. Just found this site and joined after a bit of search. £10 is cheap!!

Anyway, I was, until recently, a Terrano owner, '99 SWB and loved it, bit of green lane, lots of fun, and very impressed with it in the rough, but new MOT said no, and it was too much to fix (dreaded 'r' word), so sold on to a local farmer for off-road use.

Have been without for a while and withdrawal symptoms getting more pronounced. I want another. Can anyone help with advice in my choice please?

Rust apart (I will be looking closely), my main question is whether the 3.0 di engines are as reliable and robust as the 2.7. I fancy the better fuel economy and power (will be towing a bit), and will be mainly on-road.

Any opinions please? Many thanks!

Ben aka Crusoe

Welcome to the site Ben,

Others on here will be able to give you all the technical differences between the models, but when it comes to buying spare parts, tyres, finding information out, its much easier to do that for the 2.7 than the 3.0

I bought a 3.0 sport 12 months ago for much the same reasons you are thinking of buying one, and as much as i love it (and hate it sometimes) I will probably go for the 2.7 next time.

...Drop me a PM now you've paid your subs with a 4 digit PIN and I'll provide you with your unique forum ID number

How does this work then, I never got a 4 digit id code, even though I PM'd you on 17-09-13 and 29-10-13 with my four digit pin.
:nenau:nenau

best regards,

Rustic

Hi Mate

I have your 4 digit PIN and that has been added to the spreadsheet that Milners are currently working from, your Unique ID is the digits on the end of your Profile Page URL that can be found from the control pane, yours is "385"

So when you place an order with Milner you would use the template provided on the stick under "Club Discounts", and put this in the Comments field on the checkout

In your case Rustic your's should look like this;

Member of Nissan 4x4 Owners Club - Trade Discount
Username - Rustic
Unique Membership ID - 385
PIN Number - **** This is the 4 digit pin that you chose and sent to me, the only people who know this is me, you and Milner

Hey Ben, welcome :thumbs

I've got the same 3.0 in my Patrol and have no issues with it, it is one of those engines that you need to watch with before modding though as blanking the egr/fitting bigger exhausts/etc can cause it to overboost so if you want to change it from stock you need to fit things like a boost gauge and EGT gauge so you can keep an eye on it. Parts wise for the engine/gearbox I think if any of the bits are terrano specific it might be a bit harder to get a hold of them as going by the majority of folk on here there are a lot more 2.7 Terranos kicking about than there are 3.0 ones but since it's the same engine as they put in the Patrols most parts should be interchangeable and can't say I've noticed them being too hard to get a hold of for my truck but then I've not had to look too much as I've only had her 10/11 months and no issues yet (beyond consumables like fan belt) - long may it continue! :bow Engine/gearbox specific parts may be cheaper for the 2.7s though.

Everything apart from the engine and gearbox + ancillaries like clutch/throttle/etc should be the same as a 2.7 (I would have thought - not sure why tyres would be different? :nenau)

Technical info wise, again you should able to apply a lot of the knowledge for the 3.0 Patrols to the 3.0 Terranos so the Aussie sites like Patrol 4x4 are a goldmine of knowledge for this. Again though if it's specific 3.0 Terrano (can't be too much that is) you might struggle...

Ditto..

Still loving my 3.0, I have owned both and still prefer my 3.0 to my old 2.7, I'm not into modding my vehicles so will keep them standard are far as I can, I never had any major issues with the 2.7 and so far (touch wood) the 3.0 is behaving too:)

Me too.:hide:

Just to confirm guys, you need to provide me with a 4 digit PIN by PM, your unique membership number can be found on the end of your Profile Page URL, anyone can see this so to stop people from using each others membership numbers we introduced the added protection of a PIN.

See the posts above in reply to Rustic in regards to how you should be using it
