Im having some real anoying problems with my terrano.
When i pass 2500rpm the car starts jerking like hell. the more trottle i give the more the car bounces(jerking)
I thougth it might be the MAF, so i ordered a new MAF, and the problem got worse. When using the Ecutalk, the only error code that comes up sometimes is the CPS (crankcase position sensor) can that make that kind of problems?
I blinded the EGR valve, and the problem got less. Less jerking now.
Does anyone know what to do?

yes, CKP can cause this because the CKP affects timing, fueling etc, so as your engine warms up, the CKP gets worse and sends the incorrect signal to the ECU and everything goes wonky.

Thanks.
Then i'll be ordering av new on tomorrow :D
Any good idea for where i can order?
I live i Norway, and that part cost 450pund here, so i don't think ill be buying it here.

ah right, I got mine direct from Nissan after a LOT of searching (mines a 98 though, so you mihgt have more luck if its newer model). Mine cost £190, but it was very easy to fit myself, and cured the problems I was having.

I found one on ebay to £96
It sad it would fit my car, so i think i'll try that one.

Has anyone tryed to monitor the CKP sensor with diagnostic? (ecutalk ect.)

Stupid question time, are you sure it's engine issues and not a drive train problem :augie
It sounds very similar to diff wind up too, just a thought:rolleyes:

just check the plug on the end, I found two listed for my car, one right, one wrong! This was due to some changeover in the years or something.

I cant remember monitoring my CKP on ECUtalk, so cant help you there!

actually, yes, if it is a ckp issue, it WILL show a fault code.

Check the mini filter, could be fuel starvation, my TD got very unwell at around 2500 under load, it would try to red line stationary

Problem is that when i rev it up in neutral, it's some misfireing over 2500rpm.
The problem is the same all gears and both 2 and 4wd drive.
So it's strange that it slways happens at the same rpm in all gears.

Have checked the mini filter, and i don't have it.
Seems the TDI don't have mini filter.

I get the code 47 (CKP sensor fault) sometimes, not always.

They will mis fire when stationary. It's something to do with a different "map" the ecu uses for not moving, when the gearbox sensor senses speed 0+ then a driving "map" is used and no mis fire. Funnily enough we were playing with 8 grands worth of diagnostics today and could basically see the ign advance changing when driving and hardly at all stationary.
When my CKP was playing up the engine coughed a bit now and then, but not consistantly above 2500.
I know nothing..........................sorry:eek:

what years your terrano. i got a perfect working sensor the one for bell housing.

itll be on its way out then. I bet its fine when cold, then after it gets to running temp, plays up? eventually, it will start stalling, say when coasting to a junction or something similar, then you will get jerky power and loss of power etc, thats how mine went :(

Actually, mine is worse when the engine is cold it seems.
Yesterday when we hade minus 10degrees the car som more troubled then when it's minus 2-3degrees.
But when the engine has gotten really warm, the problem is less.
Not very much, but a little better.

What fuel are you using? Are your glow plugs and relay in good condition?
Fuel filter jelly :nenau

the plot thickens, but the error code saying 47 does still sugegst CKP, im not ruling out rogue codes though. Look at it this way, what year and mileage is the car? The older and more miles = failing CKP, they dont last forever, they are just magnets, and are certainly affected by temperature, except generally worse when hot!

My glow plugs is ****ed. Have orderd new ones.
That might explain the problems at cold engine, but the problems is still there with warm enging, so it have to be more.
The car has gone 260 000km (162 000mils) and is an 97'

I cleaned the CKP sensor yesterday, and the problems seems to have gotten less.
The jerking is not as violent now as they were before.
