Well....quick update...
Started by testing the movement on the waste gate, nice and free
Tested the MAF which tested fine but noticed that there was a big leaf wedged against the mesh on the inside of the MAF, removed it and road tested and I am happy to say it's now back to its original self again.
I think the reason this has happened is the cone filter had come off and my daughter who drives it didn't tell me she must have just stuffed it back on...

A massive thank you to every ones help and advice, this is why this is probably the best forum I use.

Almost as bad as the railways with leaves in the line, leaf on the maff, like it, well done, Rick

Fantastic news!!!!!! Now aren't you glad you didn't fork out for a Turbo

Cheers guys, yes it is quite a relief that it was something so simple....and costless

As for the oil in the intercooler it's quite common due to the oil breather blow by valve playing up some have managed to sort theirs out by cleaning it others have fitted oil catch tanks. I went the oil catch tank route on my last T2 & took the intercooler off & filled it up with paraffin & left it for a few hours emptied it out & refilled it again to clear the oil out of it which it did then pushed the wifes hair drier into one of the openings & left it switched on for about half hour to dry it out on the inside

I may clean it out too...I have done it before a couple of years ago but I used petrol...
