ok sparky came back with R20 software, he still could not get in to the ecu, so did the paperclip job himself, confirmed 14 long and one quick, 14 long and two quick, an additional code has now been added which is 14 long and 5 quick.

He seemed to think the code refers to the mobilizer only, as nissan fault codes only go to 98 or something.

I have taken the ecu out, thought i found a complete kit on ebay but it was a bush and this one has KP on it. i found another one with slightly different numbers on, but the remotes and key were plain black, is this a nats 1 system? and if i replaced it with door and ignition would it work? as my car had nats 2.

thinking of sending the ecu for testing before wasting any more money, any one recommend a reliable ecu tester that wont rip me off and knows his job?:doh

Whats the part number on the ecu ive got a few kicking about

Dude you're right on the coast by the looks of it I can see your address as I'm a mod ;) don't worry I won't disclose on here.

I've just spoke to the Mrs and if you're game we could come down on Friday night and put ourselves up in a hotel for the weekend, we can sort you out on Saturday, I'll bring some ECU's down and some keys etc and we'll hook you up to ECUTalk and read/clear your codes

The ECU's aren't mine they belong to Terranobreakershropshire on here who breaks these trucks, but we have an understanding so if we need them he'll let me sort cash when I see him next

Let me know what you think mate, drop me a PM with your number mate and we can get it arranged if you want.

My cost is £0.00, just a few cups of coffee every now and again, I reckon we'll have you sorted in a few hours topa

great

That is brill, but do not book anything yet just seeing if my friends have a holiday flat free this weekend, FOC. will get back to you soon:clap

update

Spoke to

Peter Remmington in northfolk who was very very helpful, He identified the code immediately and evidently there are the fault codes that we know of for diagnostics, but also a range of internal eca modual fault code's which go up to 200 and something, 141,142,145 are there but he was not sure if these faults would stop it from starting. advised me to swop one relay at a time before considering sending the unit back, which i have done with no success.

The good news is that i may be getting some help from the site moderator :clap

Just offered him a free weekend in a very very nice 6 birth caravan, on a very nice site in Salcome, for coming to try and fix my motor.

As i am new and do not know him, do you think it will be one piece after he has left? or worse even still there? will it smell of oil and terrano parts, will he use anti freeze in the loo, corroding all the seals? will he cook a fry up with old engine oil, or worse gearbox oil? your doubts have sent my mind racing. I now have a vision of him arranging a caravan pull completion with all you guy's! please put my imagination at rest.

Mind you if he gets me truck going WHAT THE HELL! as long as he had a good time, its not my caravan anyway, just me best mates! and what are friends for?

I would not be looking at the ecu, more the immobilizer, it is this that sends the correct code to the ecu, and with nats 2 there is no workround that I am aware off, this issue started if I am correct after a battery problem, I suggest the immobilizer has lost its key code, when you insert key and turn on the ignition what lights do you get, Rick

thank god for that i was starting to think he was a tea drinker, not sure about the condoms though, what would he be doing with my floor. i save mine for somewhere special!

the weekend is off! he must have guessed i was onto his caravan pull competition! truck still where i left it a week ago, Doh!

Hi, as far as i have been informed the immobilizer on the nats 2 is built into the eca but may be wrong. the car locks and unlocks on remote and the key, when i turn the key all dash lights show, but the MIL flashes. the engine turns over but does not fire at all, what do you think?:doh

no the immobilizer is a separate unit that sends a code to the ecu that the ecu has in memory if it does not match then no run, but if it locks and unlocks this suggests that it is not an immobilizer fault but another failure,if the mill light flashes what is the code, if it is as you have said before out of normal code then I would be looking for wiring problems between immobilizer and ecu, Rick

Could it be a problem with the ignition switch as these have been known to play up, just a thought :nenau

hi i purchased a ecu, keys, sensor, clocks and ignition from a running car with the same part numbers, swapped it all over and the same fault codes remain. biting the bullet now, got Nissan coming out on Thursday,

Again though, these swapped may lose their coding no? :nenau

I'm no expert in this field but I was warned when refurbing my keys there was a small chance of loosing them

you tell me why it is that we have all this teckno stuff that even with all the correct keys etc we cannot start our motor but the serious thieves can drive it away in seconds??????????????? Rick
