:nenau Could a one of you bods in the know fill me in with the way the 4x4 system works on a terrano II swb. It has a LSD on the rear.... when you put it into 4x4 do any of the diffs lock? either in HI or LO? if so do they lock side to side or front to rear ..... Cheers Gareth.:thumbs

Don't think so... U put in 4 wheel drive (hi or low), if u were to get stuck and your rear left wheel is just spinning, the LSD will lock that wheel and put the power in the right rear wheel where it can traction on the grund.

The front has auto locking hubs, so when u engage 4 wheel drive and drive forward a little bit those wheels lock into 4 wheel drive. Once finished with four wheel drive, engage 2 wheel drive and reverse 4 foot and the front wheels will unlock.

There is no centre diff so when you engage 4wd you are effectivly engaging centre diff lock too. For this reason 4wd shouldn't be used on dry/hard surfaces - like the road as you will suffer transmission wind up.

Thanks for the info, does the front axel have an LSD as well as the rear?

No front is just a std differential - am trying to find a relatively cheap way of getting LSD but no joy yet.
