Had to make a decision wether to keep it or not but im in need of a van. financially cant afford both.
and my insurance is now up.

don't know what van to go for yet but heres the options.

Transit
Transporter
or a vito

had transits before but im siding with the transporter at the moment.

which would you choose: and why :thumbs

Transporter all the way. way more reliable, solid and decent size. I think the only issue is they are a smidge shorter, but I suppose that depends on what you need it for. the Vito is a no no for me, my mate has one, and its poo, but they have two transporters, and have no problems at all!

well ive got a swb transit ive converted to a camper that im selling lol

See the reason for my change of vehicle is fishing :lol
bit of a silly reason but my terrano does 150-200 mile a month if that
and it not big enough to sleep in.

the plan is to get a van and build some beds etc.

ermmm how much you looking for this transit? :sly

Its going to be used for fishing trips over the uk and also france im not looking to buy something expensive though im looking to get something reasonable price and go from there beds tables sinks etc can be installed as I go along.
to expensive to buy a transporter ready done but also ill have the satisfaction of building it up myself. :)

I had 2 Transporters and now have a Vauxhall vivaro LWB, the vivaro doesn't feel as well made as the VW (cheaper plastics etc) but I have not had any problems with it, unlike the VW's.

my brother in law had the vivaro and Renault traffic both had gearbox failures so not too keen on those

Oh, my mate had 2 merc's, 1 from new and said never again, both were in the dealers more than on the road and they started showing rust early on

We run a fleet of Vivaro's at work and none have yet suffered with gearbox problems, may be a problem on older models :nenau:nenau

yeah I think the vito is out of the question now.

its between the transit and transporter
only thing is ive owned a transit and not a transporter so im just going through the forums etc

cant really beat the transit for reliability and cheap as chips to fix

its the 6 speed box they use. 5 speeds ok I had a read through forums when it happened and seemed to be happening a lot.
both vans had between 80-100.000 miles on them

Yeah, our fleet use the 6 speed, all are serviced at 18,000 mile and some are approaching 80,000.
The only one that has died is a brand new (less than 300 on the clock) automatic, the guy took it through a ford at 18" deep and trashed the engine and electronics :doh:doh

I also will have a Transit for sale in a week or so.
Hope I'm not treading on anyone's toes!

It's a Ex BT (so it'll be grey then)1999 SWB low roof, MOT till 23rd Oct 2013, taxed until the end of April 2013.
The last MOT it needed some welding doing, which cost me £1100 (ouch) at the local garage, no advisories were issued though. :thumb2

I've done the EGR mod (removed it completely), I have never had less than 30mpg (even towing my caravan) and on a trip to Bournemouth last year (to pick up my daughter and her belongings) it did 38mpg! :bow

I have a few spare to go with the van , some alloys etc, but I'll need to have a rummage in the garage.

Looking for £900

If you are interested I'll put some photos up.

It's done 84,000 miles

Not saying it will happen could just be very unlucky saying that hes never been very lucky with any of his vans or cars for that matter :lol

got to say they do drive nice though

84.000 miles sounds good though :thumbs
