I have seen a few engines available to me but really need to get the same one.I have reason to believe mine is the td27ti engine for my 2000 model terrano but I have heard there is a td27e engine and god knows how many others.
I have seen some engines identical to mine but they have what looks like some type of valve at the rear of the inlet manifold running round towards the turbo. My td27ti engine doesn't have this it just has a blanked hole. Can someone advise me what I need and ask for.

I am also interested in this as I have just bought a cheap year 2000 Terrano 2.7TDi with an engine which has overheated. The head was taken off and the engine left open so that the cylinders have now become rusty.

I have a 1994 TD engine which I could fit but would like to find out if this was the same basic engine as the later TDi or are there fundamental differences between them.

is the blank anything to to with egr, hey sorry really dont know just a guess
based on things that get blocked/blanked.
Have found out that this blank is where the EGR would fit to.I guess some engines had an egr valve and some didn't.
My Shogun with the 4d56 engine doesn't have one but the Japan version Pajero with the same 4d56 had an egr .Something to do with stricter emmissions control overseas.Guessing my engine is UK spec without the need for one ???

The TD and TDi's have the same bottom end, but different heads, and there are then 2 sizes of injector hole depending on year. You will NEED a head to fit the Bosch injectors i.e. the fly-by-wire type...

Also check where the crank sensor mounts on your dead engine, the TDi can have this either on the bell housing (swap the TDi flywheel) OR on the timing case.
