Hi. I've been offered a 04 plate kingcab navara needing an engine. I also have at my disposal a rusty S reg TDI Terrano with excellent mechanics. Does anyone know is this a big conversion?

Trasplant

Phone nispec1st as for Jeff they do them and might Be able to advise..

I bet quite intensive, but doable.
Loom, ecu, shaft lengths ect?

It'll need the ECU & full engine wiring harness changing over or mods done, some new plumbing, bell housing changed or an adapter made up, new engine mounts & custom exhaust, iff it's a D22 the bonnet scoop might be in the right place for the T2 intercooler or you could go front mounted. It won't be just a weekend job & other things might need changing/modded but once done I think it would be a great motor & when the time came you wanted to sell it it would sell fast & poss for more that a normal navara's as it'll have a bomb proof engine:thumb2

td27 bolts straight to navarra gearbox change fly by wire pump for mechanical pump thats the ecu taken care of:thumbs

i do like the look of them ebay is full of them spares or repair even running ones dont fetch much money but and its a big but the rear leg room looks awful more room in the T2 plus we have a third row of seats if needed and i would always worry about when the engine would go bang because it would.

now if i had a work shop, spare T2 tdi engine then id happily drop one in and run it just for fun a veg powerd navara :thumb2

wait til the pathfinders start going bang! mega leg room, 7 good sized seats(not gimp 3rd row), and a terry lump!

this thread is making me day dream about Pathfinders, Navara's with the trusty 4.2 Trol lump fitted:sly.
Not that im going to mind....I love my Patrol too much but as a project if you could find a 4.2 and at the right money:naughty

Thanks everyone. Think I'm gonna take the chance and buy the Navara. Dunno what I'm gonna tell the wife though when she sees another "project" on the driveway

Sounds like an older 2.7td engine with mechanical pump, no crank shaft position sensor, no intercooler, no throttle position sensor, no MAF, no ECU would drop in, in an afternoon may be... BUT much less power.

no...more power if you know how. the mechanical pumps are good for 28 psi but the turbo's will only handle 16-18 reliably.

But the injectors will still be the bottle neck :(
The best and cheapest overall power gain vs bucks, has to be LPG injection :naughty
