Hi

Our beloved terrano (1995 M diesel - had it for 13 years and no real problems) has major engine problem, sounds like the big end or something similar has gone (70,000) it's quiet at tick over but once warmed up makes a horrible noise, even at tick over, had mechanics take the rocker cover and they couldn't find anything wrong at the top end, they suggested taking the sump off and the head, but that could be be expensive.

So, I'm thinking about getting another engine and was wondering if a Maverick engine will fit the same as a Nissan engine, and if so what year were the engines similar to.

Thanks for any advice

Pete

arnt they exactly the same? I think they are, so long as you get the equivalent engine. Isnt there another way to test the engine before all that expense.?

could try connecting a oil pressure gauge to see if pressure has dropped, check compressions, if any problems found you can decide then what action to take.

As long as you get a non intercooled engine from either a Terrano or Mav you'll be fine.
