Years ago when I was involved in a bit of motor tuning, it was always easier to remove a device/or uprated spec and instantly detect the lack of power as opposed to initially adding it and not noticing much of an improvement, Rick

Don't really get what your saying:nenau
I always fill the filter with a mix of fuel and redex when I fit a new one.
Just trying to clean the injection system is all.

Sorry Elty I was just generalising re a performance gain or loss, for whatever reason, be it poor fuel or anything else that can have an effect, I have found it is more realistic to detect a performance loss rather than a performance gain, Rick

The saga continues.
Noticed today that I've got an oil leak on the drivers side of the engine.
My initial thoughts where the dipstick o ring but upon further investigation it is somewhere just below.
Not had chance to have an in depth look as it was dark but if anyone has any suggestions off the top of their heads to check then I'm all ears.
Engine oil pressure switch springs to mind.

I feel like I'm telling my granny how to suck eggs but have you checked the leak off pipes?, they've tricked more than few people!!

Not sure if this helps but many years ago I took my old truck to a garage for the starter replacing. They removed dipstick but when they fitted it back they missed the bolt from the bracket on the dipstick tube. This bolt actually fastens the oil cooler on the side of the block. This gave me a water leak but surely could also leak oil?
Also when the leak off pipes were leaking the diesel spilled down the side of the engine on drivers side and picked up crap, it really looked like oil but it was diesel really.

Hope those two pinters help.

Yep I had a quick look but being zexel pumped mine are metal ones.
Seems to be just above/in front of starter motor.

Yes the oil coolers have a tendency to leak, pig of a job to get to though, I have an engine on the bench at the mo so will take a pic of it tomorrow,Rick

I haven't had a problem in that area (yet lol) so I'm unsure whats round there, fuel pump I know is that side cos I cleaned the banjo filter and changed fuel lines, is it definitely oil?

Here is a pic of that area, if you would like a better one I will have to arrange some better lighting, Rick

That looks like oil cooler to me.

Check those leak off pipes tho mate I know you said they’re metal on yours but what about the end one that is just a rubber cap over the end. Or are the pipes fractured.
