I'm just about to do the second cam belt change on my V70 D5 that I' ve owned from new in 2002. Doing it very early at 115k but I'm doing the auxilliary belt and pulleys due to wear and tear there, so it brings peace of mind for another £65.

Nice, Mine was a 2002, 5 cylinder petrol. Had so many Volvo's I cant remember if it was 2.3 or 2.4.. Never had another car like that to drive over long distances, it was a dream and so comfortable. They don't make them like that now though.

Owned from new?!, own servicing?!, do you keep it in a heated garage too?:lol, wheres rustic, he's got some competition :lol:lol

I've been seriously looking at different set ups as we want to do a tour of the lochs in Scotland with a bit of wild camping thrown in.
Roof tent would be the ultimate answer but I've yet to convince Mrs G that it's a good investment:lol:lol

I think an RTT would be perfect for Scotland. The truck used to carry stuff neatly, no unpacking and moving stuff around when you park up. a couple of minutes to pitch the tent with a comfortable memory foam mattress and superb views from the bed. No condensation.
It's got to be a winner. If you want any advice on which to buy, give me a shout as I've looked at dozens.
However, if you go for this option and she doesn't like it. Can I have dibs when you come to sell it? :augie

these look good value for money,problem is there will be four of us plus the dog so space will be the main factor.

I got a 3" topper for about £35.00 and cut it. If it's not chucking it down, I'll give it a test along with the new tent this weekend.
Yes T-doug, condensation in the truck but a double skinned tent shouldn't (plus they have a bit of ventilation).
That one that elty001 linked to shouldn't condensate too much. It's the bog standard one from China (one factory is Sunday Campers or Longroad Campers.

No Competition, only had it a short while lol...


I must admit, seeing the roof conversion did get me thinking...
In the 1960's we had a Bedford dormobile, A Walter Smith conversion, the roof lifted up from the side, with the usual red and white striped vinyl and gave full standing headroom. In the roof were two flip out hammocks, it had a cooker, slept 4, table dinette, elsan, of a sort...
Around 10 gallons of water on board. We had many a night in there when I was a child. Lower beds were very uncomfortable, and I was always getting told off for rocking the boat, lol, as I tried to get comfortable, the hammocks on the roof would shake from side to side, putting my miserable Dad into orbit... :augie

It was great in a cross wind too lol.

I've got one of these on order to see how useful space at the rear really is, how much it gets used over the side tent and how easy it really is to erect.

With the objective of ultimately replacing it with either a baker tent, 30 second Oztent or roof tent.
Ease of erection and drying are priorities.

Was looking at these yesterday in our local decathlon store.
Also visited a camping store and was very impressed by the Coleman instant dome 5 with extension porch.
Took the guy 10 mins to put up the tent and extension.
That's my kind of camping:thumbs
