I have yeh, left it for a while after it had gone out. The coil is taking longer to go out than usual tho.

Well I default to (i) faulty ignition switch, or (ii) dodgy starter connections.

But I'd put my wages on No1.:thumb2

It turns out it was a loose wire in the ignition switch, thanks for the advice on checking the cabling. Its now fired up on jumping, I ran it for 30 minutes to charge the alternator up and then left it for half an hour and it fired up straight away.

I then drove for less than a mile to the petrol station, turned off, filled up and then tried to start it up and it was flat as hell.

Do I now have a dodgy battery, alternator or does it just need a good charge?

take it to a battery centre.... let them check it out...

Have you checked the water-level in the battery??? Or check for it bubbling when its running/cranking, or sulpher round it????
Check and clean your connections too.

I would deffo recon its the battery.... cold weather will instantly kill a battery that aint 100% and it aint been above freezing for at least a week round here!!

change - the - ignition - switch - backplate!!!!!!!!!!!!

No way will a battery happily start a lump like a bloody Terrano then fail to even squeak immediately after switch off/on.

Probably wrong, but there you go! :thumb2
