Hi All,
The time has come for some new rubber for the old girl, Im looking to go greenlaning so would like some street legal but grippy tyres and im also jealous of shoguns with their wide tyres so question is whats a good tyre, sizes too, to go for, not too noisey road wise but something that'll help put the power down when its req'd. Also i only need two tyres at the mo so is it best stick em on front or rears? two i have at mo are road tyres but with v good tread depth.

Hi Giggsy
BFGoodrich T/A KM Mud Terrain are one of the best all round tyres plenty of grip off road and long lasting on the road.
Because your only changing two tyres i would stick with the same size you have now. You can go up to 265\70/16 with a bit of trimming any bigger and you have to start doing body mods

It all depends on what you intend to user her for.

If its a bit of Green Laning go for an AT, They are quiet on the road and good off road.
I'm running Colway AT's (Colway has gone bust) So I would recommend you look at a BF Goodridge AT2's Same tread pattern.
MT's are going to be a bit more noisey plus they can be a tad slippery on wet tarmac.

In general topics there,s a review of Kingpin Remoulds if price is issue. Agree with Boggert colway mt very noisy.

Dont know if your interested or how much your spending, but, Im selling a set of hardly used 16inch steel wheels and a set of hardly used 265/70 31inch road legal mud tyres. £250 for the lot or £150 for each set. Let me know if you want to see them as were not far from each other. Pictures of tyres & wheels in members classified under BFG's & wheels.

i run Cooper (Discoverer) S/T's on my mav. best decribed as an aggressive A/T tyres. they hold the road very well in the wet, only notice them being noisy when you hit 70, and they hold their own very well in the muddy stuff.

i run 235/75/15 (standard size - 28.9"), although im pretty sure i could fit some 30's on it without causing any issues

Cooper Discoverer S/T

as already mentioned, it all depends what you want to do with your car. BFG's are popular because they wear hard, but they come as a price. General and Kumho also do some nice tyres in there AT and MT range which might be worth a look into.

ive got general at2's equiv of bfg without the price, 2years ago from black cirlces about 65 quid a corner, including local fitting.

For me I like KUMHO AT good traction all round and give good mileage rating only on my second set since 2001 back and forth to spain and out to Italy

I would be inclined to replace all your tyres not just 2. Expecially if you are changing the tread pattern to an AT and even more so if you are thinking of putting on an MT.
