Terrano 2 rear brakes!?

Hi all new member here.
Owned me Terrano for bout 9months now without any probs.
The other day the brakes made a weird noise & started to feel like they were dragging!!!
To cut a long story short & get to the point the n/s rear shoe material has removed itself from the actual shoe so to speak.
Its or was the bonded type, they look to be Bosch so you would expect a bit of quality:augie.
this in turn seems to of caused the wheel cylinder to start weeping:doh
On my trawl on the internet there could be a possibility that there are 2 types of rear brakes, pre 1999 & post 1999 :nenau
If this is the case, with mine being a 2000 model does that defietley give mine the post 1999 brakes??

had a simular problem with the n/s rear on my 1996 t2.
the spring clip that holds the shoe in place had broke causing the shoe to destroy itself along with the wheel cylinder rubber and the adjuster bolt.
got all my parts from here

there are two types of rear shoes
think they changed in late 1999 so you will need the later ones.

might be wise to get the engine and chassis number ready as the date of 1st registration is not always the date of manufacture and with yours being close to the change over could still be the older set up.

I'm assuming any change would have been made with the 99/00 facelift, i.e. the change to the square headlight, revised grille/bumper model? Not exactly sure when it happened exactly but the model differences are obvious....does that help?

Hi all thanks for the suggestions & help.
Managed to get the shoes from a local motor factor (Eastfield discount spares, Peterborough, tel-01733-562048).
They just needed make model & reg no.
Called them AM yesterday & they got them in by 4PM, not bad going, eh.
Fitted them today, went on a treat.
Whoever first came up with the idea for tapping holes in the front of drums to force them off is a :bow genius :clap

The only thing i would add or amend in the details about adjusting the handbrake cable in the downloads section is:-
You can adjust the handbrake cable without having to remove or loosen the centre console screws.
If ya remove the small bit of trim in front of the handbrake lever its possible to gain access to the cable end & adjuster nut with a 10mm deep socket on an extension.
If ya pull the lever up a click or 2 it makes it a little easier :thumbs
Hope this might help anybody else in the future.

I know what you mean about the download, but it was wriiten that way because not everyone has got deep sockets
