Hi all, since my engine blew b4 xmas, I've been away and my mechanic mate who was going to sort it hasn't. It has now fallen back on me to do.

I have an engine supplier in monmouth, MDH, who have an engine for a y reg 2.7 tdi. Does anyone know if there is anything that will trip me up trying to put this into my t reg tdi se 7 seat auto.

Here's hoping i don't have anymore trouble.

Thanks

Pete

read my posts from last year and check the size of your injectors you should have ones that are (I think 34mm) but he new engine will have a smaller size. contact me on the e-mail if you need to

I had to replace the engine in my 2.7 a couple of years ago. There was a problem, as I understand it there are two engine configerations.

Something to do with having a crank case sensor on the bell housing.

The garage fitted the first engine fine (one without the above sensor) but could not get it to run properly.

I'm sure someone will be able to give you a bit more detail than I have.

blown engine and ABS quirk

Hi all,

10 weeks down the line and I'm back. I got a replacement engine from a place called MDH in Monmouth, delivered to the diesel fitters in Egham. All in and running fine (touch wood). The old engine had a slipped cylinder liner which caused unsurmountable damage. MDH, who I think are now called K and K commercials were fantastic, if a little pricy. Good engine for 850 pounds inv delivery and vat.

I have one small problem, which if poss I'd like to solve as I can't afford another 10 week wait, the ABS orange light which indicates that the ABS is turned off is illuminated and I'm guessing that it is a sensor or bit of wiring which has been left unconnected.

I haven't even started to investigate yet, but if anyone else has had a similar problem I'd love some tips before I start looking, even if it just narrows down my search.

Here's to miles more happy motoring.

Pete

Hi Pete, You are not a million miles from me, it sounds like they have left a connector off or damaged a wire. Have a good look around the engine bay for anything amiss. If you are stuck I can put you in touch with a guy in Slough, he charged me £20 to diagnose my ABS fault by plugging in their computer, spot on diagnosis, I then changed the faulty sensor. PM me for details if you need them. Syd
