OK.
So this problem now is it will start from cold and runs for as long or as far as you like
But if you stop and restart, it restarts but runs rubbish.
It jumps an splutters.
You put you foot down but it has no power then jumps into life then no power again

If you cope with this for a mile or so it then runs fine again

Any ideas??

Come on Rick

Get a bottle of Scotch down you and lets suss this one!!!

Think I would be looking at fuel pump pressure including the regulator valve at the front of the fuel manifold, you need to make up a tee piece to between the inlet hose and the manifold, at idle it will be fairly low but as revs go up will go up a lot from memory I cannot remember the actual pressures, but must be documented some place, Oh and when was the fuel filter last changed? Rick

Thanks for the reply

the fuel filer was changed less that 12 months ago.

Would the engine being hot/warm affect the fuel pump ?

No but it could affect the pressure regulating valve on the fuel manifold, a good starting point is the fuel pressure, Rick

Another good place to look is the multitude of vac hoses, some control the valves on the throttle if any of those are bad then could cause restarting/hot running problems, Rick

Thanks.
I'll check those.
Is there a Vacuum pipe diagram anywhere for the 2.4

The only one I ever found is for the Nissan Skyline, same engine, Rick

It is a long time since I owned a 2.4 and my memory at 73 is not like it used to be but I will dwell on your problem and if I come up with any more I will let you know, Rick

Maybe the EGR valve is stuck open/closed:nenau

Someone has said to me it could be a
Heat soak problem?

Maybe coil or a temp sensor ?

There are various solenoids on the throttle body one of which is a cold starting valve, if this is open on a warm start it will give running problems, Rick

Someone has suggested this

there be a coolant temp sensor in there somewhere that might not be working correctly
or it could be corrosion on the connections to the IAA unit on the throttle chamber.
