Anyone else had a recall letter from Nissan?
Got one through the post yesterday re passenger side air bag. Apparently over time they develop a fault which means in the event of an accident the bag can inflate with such extreme force that parts of the airbag unit can shatter firing metal fragments into the cabin.
Potential for severe injury to for all occupants.
Photos are quite scary to say the least.
Nissan will rectify the fault for free at your nearest dealer, around a 2 hour job to do.
Please spread the word as they are trying to track down all affected vehicles.
Wasn't sure where to post this so please re post where applicable.
I would treat this as a matter of urgency for all those with passenger air bags.
Scary stuff!!

This is the letter

Did it a couple of years ago, a pain free process (except I was in cold and wet Bolton), so not really pain free...

Cheers,

Is this all T2's or only certain years, or variants? What do you do, just contact a Nissan Main Stealer and tell them about it, or do you have to wait for a letter?

Yes, I do rememer this being raised when I first joined the forum.

However, a timely reminder never goes amiss.

I would ask the same as LF........ do you just roll up at the stealership, and ask them to check the VIN and carry out the necessary repair FOC.......:nenau

I would say you could check by phone.:thumb2

Oh bugger, just checked the recall option on the mot check website and it appears that mine too is due a recall so I assume it’ll be this one. Do you think they’ll lend me a curtesy car :lol

So go to the downloads section of this website and find the mot check website amd you’ll see the option to check recalls.

Go and ask them if it's due a recall. They'll check and if needed they'll book it in, do it and then hand you back the car with a new airbag.
And yes, it's all free.
Dunnoo about the courtesy car though.

I know done this LF and mine is due a recall so I'll be sorting it when I can.
Cheers Jim.:thumbs

I think I'll just call in the dealers the next time I pass, I must be fick innit I can't make sense of the download :doh

Nissan are more than happy to sort it out as it's a Takata problem. The problem is Takata, who are essentially bankrupt from this problem.
For peace of mind, talk to Nissan.

Thankfully the stealer is in the valley below, about 5 miles away, so just as easy to call in, as I go that way regularly.......:thumb2

Hi,
Like Jim did I checked the recall feature (cheers Jim :thumb2) on the gov mot history check website. Tapped in the reg and scrolled down. I opened that link above but the wine stopped me processing it properly :)

Just to make things easy.

https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

Mmh, interesting, using that link, it states that there are no recall notices on my car.......:nenau

Perhaps mine is one of the lucky ones.......:thumb2

What does "unavailable till further notice" 're testing location mean, surely the test station can be identified? Rick

Just done both of ours on the MOT site, and it says they are fine, so it looks like it is on the later models.

BOOM.........super truck does it again, no recorded recalls and according to the mot history she's only done a genuine 72k, I was told it was over 100k but had a clock change, ooooossshhhh baby :D:D:D:D
