Good point, make sure the 4WD lever is as far forward as it will go.

So Zippy, "mine did that to me" eh? I think you meant "I did that to mine" didn't you?! LOL

Hi Zippy,

Checked four wheel drive lever a few times, it's had no effect, its like if the gearbox is stuck in nutral.

Thanks Frank

Sounds like it could be the thrust bearing gone through the presher plate :doh Let hope it is not as bad as that though

Thanks everyone,

The clutch fliud level is fine, so I am starting to think that it must be the thrust bearing gone through the presher plate, I will let all know when I have more news.

Again thanks for your help.

with the clutch released, can you hear any layshaft rattle (indicating the innards of the 'box are turning) ???

Will be slight change of engine note too.

Timbo thanks,

Don't remember any rattle from the innards of the gearbox and or change to engine note?

some one who works for Nissan told me it is most likely to be a problem with the clutch thrust bearing. The Car is in the local garage at the moment, I hope to have some indication of the problem on Monady next.

Thanks Frank

Keep us posted Frank...good luck, fingers crossed for you.

It’s quite a common problem for the centre of the clutch plate to rip out.

Dear all,

Toolbox thanks your right, it was that common problem for the centre of the clutch plate to rip out. The Local garage cost of fix £506.

Thanks everyone - Frank

Dear all, Just had the car back with new clutch plate £506, all is well now.
