If you want to buy a cheap handheld Non Contact Thermometer, then look no further...
On offer from Maplin, at £19.99, it showed my engine block at 77.4 C, so maybe I need a warmer stat. Ok accuracy +/- 2% plus 2 degrees, not brilliant, but being able to see changes in temperature is great.
My neighbour bought one first, so he could see which wall in his kitchen was the coldest, to see why the kitchen was always cold....
You can measure radiator temperatures, hot spots, cold spots as you can leave it switched on and move it a long a pipe, hub, axle and you can see the hot spots, guess you could use it on a gas cylinder as it has a lazer pointer so you can see where the temperatre changes, ie at the level of compressed gas.
Tried it on my brake disks, brake drums to check if brakes are binding.....
Measures the ground temperature, to check for ice......
Check the fridge contents temperature, brilliant..
If you reserve it on line, from your local store and if you quote this code when you collect the item and pay at the check out, you will get a free Maplin catalogue, worth £3.99 Big Deal, but a usefull reference item.
Code: RasCat
