Ok so I found out why my temperature gauge isn't working.

Is broken. Anyone got one or know what it's called so I can order one?

That is a common fault on the Terrano. If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can repair it fairly easily.

On mine, I cleaned up the rivet that the terminal was connected to with a dremil, but a fine file would do just as well.
Tinned it and got a blob of solder nicely covering it.
Soldered some silicon flexible wire onto it, which I put a spade connector on the other end.
I then cable tied the wire back to the temperature sender, so it has some support and should not do it again.

It's been fine for 2 years now.

They say a picture is worth 1000 words.

sent from my phone, sorry for any typo's.

I would offer but the fuel to get here would make buying it cheap.

Motor factor should be able to get a temperature sender. Just make sure you get the rightml one, as the one next to it is also a temperature sender for the ECU and is bigger.

havent got a soldering iron :(

Aldi have them in at the moment, and are probably cheaper to buy than a replacement sensor, then... you still have the soldering iron...:thumb2

Now that repair would have made me proud...:thumb2
Great repair, cheap and cheerful but will probably last longer again than it has from new.:thumb2

Thank you.

just been to local aldi, none in stock! :(

Argos do them, starting at £6.99. Do you not know someone who can solder? it will take less than 10 mins, including running the extension cable out, waiting for the iron to warm up, and tidying up again after.

i think you will need an ion about 25watts or larger to get the sender tip hot enough to flow the solder on.
nice job you did.
