This kitchen tap is driving me insane.. It's like Chinese water torture . I need these washers , where can I but them from?
I've been down to the plumbers shop and they dont have any.
Can't see any on screwfix either.

The problem with new taps is that they are no longer serviceable.

You can get the ceramic washers for some taps, and even then, they are different. When we went to France, I even looked in their DIY places, and found all sorts, but not what I wanted.:doh

I have never seen one of those types before, do you know where it was made, or supplied by?

I think a certain way to fix it is to replace the whole tap, but in 5 years time you will have the same problem again.

Some of these taps cost upwards of £80.
We had a similar problem with a swan neck tap, first I replaced the ceramic part, then a year later the seals went on the arm, so it leaked.
There was that much play in the arm, that it was worn out anyway.
I should have cut my losses and bought a new tap a year ago when the ceramic seals started to leak.

Modern junk, sold at extortionate prices, whose paint finish or chrome finish starts to flake off after 13 months.
Just take a look... Made in *****
I rest my case.

Telephone the tap makers/suppliers. They will send you a new cartridge free usually if under 5 years old, if not it wont be many pennies.
Unless ofcourse it's a mickey mouse tap from a shed :augie

Just got in from b&q. Nothing. Bought something that I thought could makeitfit, but it isnt going to work. Found the make of the tap, Brev. So a quick google and..... £18 for this...

Not ordered anything yet, I'll do some more googling and see if the washer's are anywhere to be found.

I dont know how old the tap is, I'll ask the estate manager when I see him. good tenant me:rolleyes:

Not all bad then. I'd get the who;e cartridge and fit complete. Are you in a hard water area?
If so you can fit a simple water filter in the sink unit to help protect the tap's innards in future :thumbs

Ebay has let me down. That's 36 quid for 2 cartridges, because the other will be going soon enough.
I can't believe I am about to write this: it is cheaper to buy a new mixer tap, than it is to repair this one.
It only needs a washer for fecks sake.
I think that constant drip drip dripping has got to me.
It isn't my tap :doh

Soft water area here. About 100ppm

Could I put a blob of silicone sealant on the washer where it has chewed the edge and smooth it out to the shape????

never bother with cartridges unless the tap is a really good make, and plastic does not = a good make, bin it and get a new one, Rick

We usually hussle a pair free if the taps are under 5 years old. I know they
're not the best but as it's not his tap :augie
