Hi all, my mother in law has a dripping tap and has asked me to take care of it.
I have managed to get the tap handles off, one of the spikes unscrews and allows the handle to pull off the splines. Unfortunately this still doesn’t give access to the cartridge. I can only think that some how the chrome body must be a cover that removes to allow access to unscrew the cartridges. It looks like there is a round collar that covers the cartridge but I can’t see a way of removing it.
Any advice welcome.

Yes Jim the cover unscrews, pair of curved jaw grips with a bit of cardboard tween them and the cap, position the grips near top of the cover as they are so thin you will end up cramping the cover onto the thread, if quarter turn then you will need a pair of ceramic cartridges (local plumbers merchants or B & Q etc) if multi turn then new washers, Rick

This dam tap is going to hell :doh

All went well this morning, took to bits no problems and got a replacement cartridge that fitted perfectly until I tried to fit the handle. Different amount of splines so easiest solution is a new tap.

Well laid plans and all that, new tap will have to wait as I’m away in the camper next weekend.

Yes Jim they tend to do that with you, but you should be able to get new heads from the place you got the inserts from, Rick
