I don't remember the turning circle being a problem though at the end of the day it's not an FX4 taxi, and the rear leg room was massive, more than my Stagea and more than my Patrol and with proper rear seats not jump seats. Definately the best double cab out there for a family of 5 if that's what's needed.

since running gear is shared with pathfinder then the pf has to be a good bet,
the pf has the same front axles, well IFS arrangement. The Nav has live rear axle
but the Pathy has IRS/Independent. Drove a demo liked the boot, was like the t2
had been extended to incase the spare, but the spare is underneath so much more boot
and 3rd row if fitted fold into floor, zafira style. Know of a few towing big twin axles
merrily.

I too am thinking of changing the old 4x4..... the terrano is getting a bit worn out now (145K on the clock), aircon broke ages ago (needs a new condenser rad) has the 'gearbox rattle' and generally needs a bit of tlc.... body is superb (no rust) just the rest of it lol....... Question is what to replace it with/

Needs to tow a 1600kg caravan so thats a few small 4x4's out of the equation :nenau. I have between £3-5K to spend, been looking at jeep cherokees but the ones I have seen are a bit sorry for themselves tbh..... fancy a change but not much I can afford :confused:. I will stick the terrano in for an MOT and see what happens this year.. been offered £750 part ex against a cherokee

Anyone got any ideas? I dont need 7 seats anymore..... maybe time to look for something not 4x4 even :doh

seeing more twin axles towed by crvs and freelanders but not convinced are
heavy enough, sure they must be well over the recommended 85% which
ok isnt law, but heard some insurance companies are using as a benchmark.

suppose on basis of above x-trails are getting chunkier and in same class.

mind mots are looming for caravans so we'll all be priced out of market, what
then well will take train to airport and spend my money in other countries....

This is why I am leaning to wards a Hyundai Terracan, they are heavier than a T2 (2250k) have more power (162 bhp). A proper hi/low box and are built on a late Shogun chassis. Plus, they are a little more economical! The downside is that they stopped making hem in 2007 so probably only room for one of those before they become outdated. What do you think TTT2?

X trails are a serious amount of money and mostly all have mega mileage on them :nenau I think they can only pull 2000kg so very close or over the 85% ruling... suppose they are ok and high mileage without general rubbish feedback = ok? Problem is I dont want a truck with mega mileage.... already have one :thumb2

Terracans are interesting, hold their price a bit and a few about for sale but as said limited numbers for sale but they do look a nice bit of kit!

did i mention the 2800 kilo towing capacity? It's the same as a T2 and I have two trailers that gross at 2600k so a capacity of 2000k is no good to me :nenau

I've always liked these.

terracan good bet mudlifecrisis has one and a big t/a trailer, wondered if any
relation to shogun can see family likelness, cousins? only issue for us is doesnt
have 7 seat option, odd as shogun did/does, massive boot.

pretty sure new ssanyong rexton is 2800 tug weight, on a 2.0td ! dont know its
output off hand but makers are squeezing more horses out of less cubes.

I like the sound of a Terracan Auto are they coil spring suspension all round and do they have a cambelt or chain ?

Are they common rail injected ?

Sounds like an ideal replacement for my r3mR ??

Plus the Missus likes the look of them !

Had mine for a year now , can't fault apart from suspension a bit 'slow' but different shocks will cure that when they need replacing. My 05 plate is £280 tax they go up after that.Strong Merc lump good fuel solo and towing (compared to Mav :lol ) big armchair on wheels :)

2.9 td and 3.5 petrol, auto and manual

2.9 doesnt list on wiki but another page suggests its a merc unit crdi, common rail?

Kia did a 2.9 crdi, shared korean tech?

same engine in kia sedona the big mpv.

2.9 was td then crdi depends on age.

looks like a belt as google engine and cam belt loads of results...

Bigger lump in facelift (square fogs) timing chain not belt dealer told me. Definitely common rail
