Sorry, but everyone should own a motorhome or campervan atleast once in their life :D

The stupid road tax is a killer for me so doubt I'll be getting another 4x4, not just 4x4's I know but they do tend to have the larger engines.

What about a Navara ? Cheapish Tax, lots of parts around and well made. Not bad on fuel too.
Mine was remapped, big intercooler, big exhaust, uprated brakes, body lift and lots of toys. 230hp and 400 torques as Jeremy Clarkson would say. Just under 8 secs to 60mph and nearly 30mpg, depending on how you drive.

Here's mine in the various guises I had it.

Nice looking Nav there, and mods too, dont see many so treated..

Other ones for me would be Kia Sorrento, as 7 seat option, seem to
be the new Terrano on caravan sites.... newest has 2.2 td, says 45mpg
in ad in latest caravan club mag, and that was best suv well other than
a rangey beating it twice the price.

another 7s is a ssanyong, rexton i think, says can pull 2800 kg with a 2.0 td !

Very arousing........

the self destruct navara engine put me off, I have owned a few L200s and 2 ford rangers and I'm not convinced by crew cabs! neither a car or a truck and a turning circle like the QE2!

What about a Toyota prius? Go down the hybrid-electric route:naughty

are you taking the p####? lol even worse than a camper van! and my T2 has a fair few of them tagging along behind on the end of a tow strap! :augie

Yup, Dont worry, I wouldn't with the prius in anyone:lol

You mean the conrod bolt problems of the D22 not the D40 then. My D40 regularly saw the rev limiter which had been raised 500 rpm in the remap. It's rods remained firmly within the block. :doh

The video....

When finances allow, I think I'll find myself being drawn toward a Pathfinder, as I like the look of them, and I haven't heard to many horror stories about build quality, or reliability.

I think they would make a good tow car, and look fairly well equipped and comfortable.

For the time being though, I am hoping for another 4 - 5 years service out of the Terrano (78k miles now).

Regards

Alan

what's the turning circle like? every other crew-cab I have had it's been like a canal barge, hopeless if you want to reverse a big trailer round a tight corner, and the rear leg room hasn't been too clever either :nenau

I don't remember the turning circle being a problem though at the end of the day it's not an FX4 taxi, and the rear leg room was massive, more than my Stagea and more than my Patrol and with proper rear seats not jump seats. Definately the best double cab out there for a family of 5 if that's what's needed.
